Wednesday Jan. 20th Activity Idea

Watching Airplanes at the Provo Airport

My mom told me about this nice path that leads south along the Provo river/Utah lake and heads towards the airport. Turns out it is actually the Provo River Parkway trail - it just continues on South after you get to the road that heads off west to the lake. So, Sean and I took the kids walking there during the summer and Peter loved watching the planes fly in and out. I was surprised at how often they came in. I'm not sure what the weather is going to be like, but I'm hoping it will be nice enough to walk there and also nice enough that pilots will want to be flying. So, let's cross our fingers :)

I'll be starting off at 9:30 am. If you want to join along, drive west heading towards Utah Lake State Park (drive as far west as you can on Provo's center street) and the trail starts just before the bridge on the south side. So, if you've crossed over the bridge, you've gone too far.

Dress warm, because it will most likely be really cold! But the more people who G.O. with us, the warmer it will be :)

  1. Speaking of planes, Rob and I went to the Hill Aerospace Museum on Saturday, and it's an amazing place for adults and kids. It's free to enter the museum, but it is a drive (between Salt Lake and Ogden), so I would recommend carpooling if you're worried about gas money. The website looks a little dry, but the museum itself is great, with many indoor and outdoor enticements. I highly recommend it. There were half a bazillion families there on Saturday with wide-eyed excited kids. Pack a lunch. Here's the website: http://www.hill.af.mil/library/museum/
